Puppies require a lot of sleep, although sometimes they may think otherwise, so it's important to create comfortable and undisturbed resting place. It's advisable not to place your puppy in a closed crate but in a Puppy Pen. This can be adjusted to the size of your dog, giving him his own space in the homely atmosphere you wish to maintain.

Quality & healthy food and hydration are crucial for your pup's growth; let them eat in peace by not touching their food bowl. After eating, you can use the empty bowl for exercises, by putting something extra tasty in it. This teaches your pup that your presence at their meal time is positive. Always provide fresh drinking water.

Teaching cleanliness, where the puppy learns to do it's pee outside, can be challenging. Especially considering that a pup will need to urinate every 2-3 hours on average. Always reward when your puppy does its business outside and handle accidents indoors calmly without any comment. An efficient odor remover is necessary when cleaning up accidents, to prevent repetition in the same spot. It's crucial never (really, never) to scold your puppy, grumble at him, or rub his nose in the accident.

Preparing a Puppy For Show Season

Preparing a puppy for show competitions requires a combination of early Show training, proper coat care, and conditioning to ensure they present their best in the ring. Start with regular handling to get your puppy comfortable with being touched, examined, and standing still—this builds confidence for judges' assessments. Introduce basic grooming routines early, using high-quality shampoos, conditioners, and brushes suited to their coat type.

Consistency is key in training gaiting patterns, stacking, and socialising in busy environments to mimic show conditions. A balanced diet and appropriate exercise help develop muscle tone and coat quality. Investing in professional grooming tools and mastering breed-standard presentation will give your puppy the competitive edge for a successful show season.

How to Provide Puppy Care and Introduce Grooming Without Stress

It's equally important for a dog to become accustomed to the grooming process from a young age, as this will ensure they remain comfortable and cooperative throughout their show career. If a puppy isn't introduced to grooming early, they may struggle with the experience later in life. Pampering your pup with regular beauty treatments from an early age is highly recommended.

A professional dog groomer will teach your pup that bathing, drying, and brushing are positive experiences, making grooming sessions enjoyable rather than stressful. Many groomers even offer spa treatments for extra wellness, ensuring your young dog receives the care they deserve. Routine maintenance such as nail clipping, ear cleaning, and eye care are also crucial elements of grooming, helping maintain their overall health and comfort. To set your puppy up for success, don't delay their first grooming salon visit.
