Happy Puppy Day!

Happy Puppy Day!

Having a puppy at home, a little pup in the grooming shop, it delights everyone's heart, we can all agree on that, right? Then there are the super sweet eyes, the cute little face, and everyone notices that typical, sweet puppy smell. What more could we want? But let's start at the beginning, bringing new life into the home.

Your breeder will take care of a Puppy pack

When you get a pup, there's a good chance you'll receive a complete package to give your sweet pup a warm welcome home. At Transgroom, we are also happy to provide this with the Show Tech Puppy Pack. With our in-house thoughtful expertise & experience, this puppy package has been assembled with all the essential products to guarantee the daily care of your dog's coat, regardless of breed and coat structure. In this puppy package, there's also a scent item from the breeder, making it nice for your pup to perceive its familiar nest scent upon coming home, which gives your young companion a comfortable feeling.

What's the added value for the breeder?

A dedicated breeder aims to offer the best for their puppies. It's crucial that you, as the new owner, are fully informed about the needs of the pup and have the means to provide optimal care. A richly filled puppy package also serves as a token of appreciation; it shows that the breeder considers you a suitable owner for the pup and wants to express their gratitude.

Did You Know: Clever Puppy Wisdoms

The sleeping needs of your pup:

Puppies require a lot of sleep, although sometimes they may think otherwise. Create a comfortable and undisturbed resting place for your pup. It's advisable not to place your puppy in a closed crate but in a Puppy Pen. This can be adjusted to the size of your dog, giving him his own space in the homely atmosphere you wish to maintain. Perhaps the breeder already applied this, which will obviously be very familiar to your dog.

Yummy Yummy

Quality & healthy food and hydration are crucial for your pup's growth. Naturally, the breeder ensures that you can bridge the first days at home with the same food your pup is accustomed to. This avoids stomach and intestinal problems. Let him eat in peace by not touching his food bowl. After eating, you can use the empty bowl for exercises, by putting something extra tasty in it. This teaches your pup that your presence at his meal is positive. Always provide fresh drinking water.

Oops, it happened again

Teaching cleanliness, where the puppy learns to do its pee outside, can be challenging. Especially considering that a pup will need to urinate every 2-3 hours on average. Always reward when your puppy does its business outside and handle accidents indoors calmly without any comment. An efficient odor remover is necessary when cleaning up accidents, to prevent repetition in the same spot. It's crucial never (really, never) to scold your puppy, grumble at him, or rub his nose in the accident.

What about your dog’s haircut?

If you have a puppy or are getting one soon, you should start getting them used to grooming as soon as possible! Take your puppy to the professional dog groomer and let them get used to being trimmed, washed, dried, nail clipping, shaving, etc. It's important for a dog to become accustomed to the grooming process as a puppy; otherwise, they might not enjoy being groomed later in life. So, pampering your pup with a  Beauty treatment at a young age is definitely recommended. A professional dog groomer will teach your pup that it needs to be washed, dried, and brushed and that this is an extremely enjoyable experience. Your dog groomer can even apply a Spa treatment with the extra wellness that your young dog deserves. Clipping sharp nails, ear care, and eye care are definitely part of the grooming session. Do not delay visiting the grooming salon. We advise starting as early as possible, preferably at the age of 12 weeks. Your pup is in the imprinting & socialization phase and will learn this with great enthusiasm, making it a pleasant situation. However, if you postpone this to a pubescent or adolescent phase of 8-12 months, it becomes a challenging period during which the teenager may resist.

Home care is also of crucial importance. Especially teaching an efficient brushing and grooming routine at home happens in this young life phase. Naturally, the breeder has already started this, and it's up to the dog owner to continue this tradition.

But how should you proceed? Always place your dog on a safe, higher place, so they can't just "take off". A small grooming table, depending on the breed, of course, is a must. Make sure the dog is safe and cannot fall off. Take your time to brush and take care of his coat. Remain calm, even if your dog doesn't always enjoy it. Sometimes a bit of perseverance is needed here. Not sure exactly how to do it? Then be sure to check out our Transgroom TV YouTube channel for a comprehensive series of  tips. Because learning is  knowing.
